Three Ways to Get More Energy During the Day

After a bad night’s sleep, it’s common to feel low on energy, and it can be really hard to get the motivation to do things that you know are going to help you feel better.

So, if you’ve had a bad night’s sleep and are feeling as though you’re really lacking in energy, here are three things you can do to help boost your energy during the day.

  1. Make friends with caffeine. It’s a common misconception that if you’re struggling with your sleep, caffeine should be completely avoided to help you sleep better the following night. However, it’s more than ok to have a cup of tea of coffee in the morning if you are feeling really tired and lethargic. This won’t impact on your sleep when nighttime comes around. Just make sure you don’t overdo it.

  2. Take a break. If you are struggling to stay awake during the day, then take a break as a short nap can be really helpful under the right conditions. Just keep it to 10-15 minutes maximum and make sure it’s not too close to bedtime. Set your alarm, put your phone on silent and don’t worry too much about actually trying to sleep. Just close your eyes, relax, take some deep breaths, and if you fall asleep that’s great, but even just slowing your breathing and becoming present for a few moments can really boost energy levels.

  3. Stay hydrated. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of water. This is a really boring and obvious tip, but the reality is that most of us are dehydrated, and it does leave you feeling really tired. So, for an energy boost, it’s well worth upping your water intake.
